Kaltura - How to Access the Video Caption Editor
On March 25, 2018, automated captions, powered by Cielo24, were enabled in Rutgers MediaSpace, powered by Kaltura. When a video is uploaded to MediaSpace via the standalone website or through Rutgers Canvas, Moodle, or Sakai captions are generated using automatic speech recognition. This service provides 70-95% accuracy. Video owners will need to review and edit their captions for accuracy.
If you are an instructor in a course that uses Moodle, Canvas, or Sakai you may wish to notify your students to report any errors to you. Include a note in your syllabus that all captions are machine-generated and to contact the instructor regarding inaccuracies.
Click on Actions on the video details page to expand the drop-down menu.
Click Caption Requests.
If this is your first time accessing captions for this video, you will need to click Refresh List: CLICK HERE to see all Caption Requests for this media.
Click Edit on the right to access the caption editor. To edit captions, you must be the owner or co-publisher of the video entry.
A new browser tab will open to display the caption editor. The recording will automatically play from the beginning.
Next you will want to follow the steps on How to edit your video captions.
