Unable to add a user to Course Site

Sub-Account Admins, Teachers, and TA’s can add users to any course site they have access to. If you receive an error stating the user could not be found, it may be one of these reasons:

  • You are entering a different email address than the one associated with the Canvas account. Try adding them by their Rutgers NetID.
  • If the NetID is also not coming up, it is possible their account is not active in Canvas. Please send a Canvas account activation request. 
  • If you are trying to add someone who is not affiliated with Rutgers, they will require an Email account to access Canvas. Only Administrators will be able to create an email login account. Please send a Canvas account activation request.

Please send an email to the Canvas Helpdesk for account activations.

For activating faculty, staff, or students, include:

  • Rutgers NetID

For activating guests or non-credit users, include:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email Address
