Kaltura - How to Find your Video's Captions

On March 25, 2018, automated captions, powered by Cielo24, were enabled in Rutgers MediaSpace, powered by Kaltura. When a video is uploaded to MediaSpace via the standalone website or through Rutgers Canvas, Moodle, or Sakai captions are generated using automatic speech recognition.  This service provides 70-95% accuracy.  Video owners will need to review and edit their captions for accuracy.

If you are an instructor in a course that uses Moodle, Canvas, or Sakai you may wish to notify your students to report any errors to you. Include a note in your syllabus that all captions are machine-generated and to contact the instructor regarding inaccuracies.

  1. Log into Rutgers MediaSpace, Moodle, or Canvas.

  2. Navigate to your media
    • MediaSpace – Click your name in the upper right to expand the menu.  Click on My Media. Click on an entry to view the details page.
