Respondus Lockdown Browser Student Guide for Mac Users

Respondus LockDown Browser (RLDB) is a locked browser for taking quizzes in Moodle. It prevents you from printing, copying, going to another URL, or accessing other applications during a quiz. If a Moodle quiz requires that Respondus LockDown Browser be used, you will not be able to take the quiz with a standard web browser.

General Steps: 
  1. Open Quiz Activity 
  2. Click Download Link For RLDB
  3. Run Installer
  4. Log into Moodle with RLDB
  5. Go Back to Exam


VERY IMPORTANT --
The Respondus Download Link is Not Formatted. Click on the word "here" to access the browser download link.
Open the RLDB and select, "Rutgers Moodle 2" when asked to "Choose a Server" from the dropdown list.

On the course page, a label after the Quiz's name will indicate that RLDB  is required:



The quiz attempt page will appear as usual. Click the "Attempt quiz now" button then click the "Start attempt" button:


A new screen will appear with an unformatted download link.
Very Important -- Click on the word "here" it is the only word with a download link. 



Click "Install Now" on the new page. A file will download. Click the downloaded file to open the folder containing the installer:




The Finder window will open. Locate the Lockdown Browser Installer: 




Follow the instructions given. A screen showing a message that the installation was successful will appear:



Locate the Lockdown Browser.app in the Applications folder:




Locate the installer link double click to begin the installation:



On the new page select "Rutgers Moodle2" for the server:




If necessary click the "Kill these applications" if RLDB gives a warning:



The Moodle login screen will appear in the Lock Down Browser. Login with your Net ID:


Select the specified quiz activity and the attempt will open:
